Loreley Singers
October 2025
It seems like our yearly July potluck picnic was just yesterday – where has the time gone? To borrow a stanza from poet Thomas Moore (1779 – 1852):
“Tis the last rose of Summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone…”
Before the last rose faded, we Loreley Singers resumed practicing in early September. If you were to stop by on a Monday afternoon, you’d hear “Angels we have heard on high,” “Leise rieselt der Schnee” and many other favourites. It might seem out of season, yet we have much ground to cover before our annual Christmas Concert on Sunday afternoon, December 7th, 2025. Please mark your calendars and come listen to uplifting Yuletide music to get you into the holiday spirit. Take the opportunity to sing along with us, too! As always, there is no admission charge, but freewill donations are always appreciated.
There have been a few changes in the Choir Executive. Helga Gausrab has resigned her role as Secretary after decades of service. We are so glad that she continues to sing with us! Thank you so much, Helga, your thorough notetaking, thoughtful report-writing and timely email updates to keep the Choir on track with their practice times and music selections. The next person will have very big shoes to fill.
We are sorry to see Andreas Remesch resign as Choir Treasurer. Thank you so much, Andreas, for being “the money man” all these years, with your patient reminders about dues owed and keeping track of the Choir’s spending and budget. We’ll miss seeing you weekly! Thank you to Heidi Nota-Reid and Beverley Dunfield for agreeing to share the responsibilities of Choir Treasurer.
Last but certainly not least, a special thank you to Maria Mueller for making the coffee and setting out desserts for the Choir’s weekly post-practice social hour. Your dedicated service over the past few years is greatly appreciated.
I have it on good authority that we have singers with October and November birthdays, so we are sending out heartfelt birthday wishes and a hearty “Happy Birthday” song to all! ♫ ♫
And for our Singers who are ailing a bit, we miss you and look forward to seeing you again! Gute Besserung! ♥
As dear Helga would want to say, “Always keep a song in your heart and smile!”
Yours Truly
